Promoting research for better diabetes care in Asia: Kyoto declaration on diabetes

The Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes (AASD) holds an annual academic meeting in a different Asian city each year. In November 2012, the AASD held the 4th Scientific Meeting jointly with the 9th International Diabetes Federation-Western Pacific Region (IDF-WPR) Congress in Kyoto, Japan. The registration was 4,081 persons from 43 countries (Japan 2,551 and overseas 1,530). They unanimously agreed on the following declaration and urged that they should be presented in all countries throughout Asia for its implementation.
